Dr. Laurie Middaugh is currently Assistant Professor of Music at the University of Montevallo, where she previously served as staff accompanist and piano instructor for more than two decades. She currently serves as head of the keyboard area, teaches piano literature, piano pedagogy, applied piano, and theory. Dr. Middaugh also maintains an active private studio at UM’s Community School of Music and regularly collaborates with musicians across the state. Dr. Middaugh also serves as rehearsal and performance pianist for the University of Montevallo opera program.
She has participated in master classes and coachings with nationally and internationally known musicians, performing across the United States, Canada, Brazil, and Austria. For many years she has been staff pianist (repetitor) at the American Institute of Music Study (AIMS) in Graz, Austria. Dr. Middaugh received bachelor’s and master’s degrees in piano performance from the University of Montevallo, studying with Joan Cowan and Dr. Anthony Pattin, and the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Alabama, studying with Amanda Penick.
